3 suspects wanted for attempted armed robbery in Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. -

Yuma Police Department is looking for three men who they say tried to rob another group of men at gun point on Sunday.

Officers say a man with a handgun along with two other men approached a group of men in the 1100 block of S. 5th Avenue.

The suspects allegedly demanded the group of men give up their money and belongings. When one of the victims resisted the man with the gun, there was a struggle and a shot was fired into the air, police say. The man allegedly struck the victim one the side of the head and all three men ran from the area.

The victim had non-life threatening injuries and was treated by medics on scene.

The three suspects were unable to take anything from the group of men.

The suspects are all described as Hispanic males.

The subject with the handgun was approximately 5'7'', medium build, and approximately 35 to 40 years of age. He was wearing a white-in-color shirt, black jacket, and blue jeans. He also had a moustache.

The second suspect was approximately 5'7'', slender build, and approximately 18 to 22 years of age. He was wearing a red shirt, red shorts, and a red hat.

The third suspect was approximately 5'7'', slender build, and approximately 18 to 22 years of age. He was wearing a white shirt and white shorts.

Officers are investigating whether this attempted armed robbery is connected with an earlier armed robbery at El Encanto Apartments in Yuma.
