Report: End times theology, creationism taught in Texas schools

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

The end of time, creationism, and an earth that is only 6,000 years old are just some of the topics being taught to students in Texas schools, according to a Huffingtonpost.com report.

The report says that students are also being taught that the "United States was founded as a Christian nation based on Christian principles."

It cites a Texas Freedom Network Educaton Fund report that says the schools are failing to adhere to a Texas bill to improve elective Bible courses while protecting the religious freedom of students and families.

You can read the full TFNEF report here.

The report by the TFNEF says students are also being taught that the Bible is the written word of God, that the resurrection of Jesus was a real event, and anti-God media do not portray these, and other events in the Bible as facts.

According to the Huffingtonpost.com, some Texas districts do adhere to the state bill to teach the bible in an academic manner, and not as religious dogma.
