MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
Friday was the coldest morning in two years in the Twin Cities and much of Minnesota, but temperatures started rising with the sun.
In Minneapolis, the actual air temperature was -13 at 7 a.m., with a wind chill of -25. In far northern Minnesota, air temperatures were near -30, with wind chills in the -50 range.
Jan. 21, 2011 was the last time Minneapolis was hit with such severe cold temperatures. It was -16 on that day.
Some school districts make the decision to close Friday, with others delaying the start of classes by two hours.
