Assemblyman Tim Donnelly: We Are Not Looking To Arm Every Teacher

Posted: Updated:

When the NRA first spoke about the tragedy in Newtown, they said there was an obvious solution to keeping kids safe in schools.

Assemblyman Tim Donnelly was here...he's introduced a bill that would let schools guard against possible shootings by training and arming school marshals.

Should teachers be allowed to carry concealed weapons in schools? Assemblyman Tim Donnelly explained to Steve And Maria why he feels it's become necessary to have guns in the classroom. Donnelly introduced a bill this week that would let schools guard against shootings by arming staff.

Assembly Bill 202 would allow schools to spend money on "schools marshals" who would be trained and permitted to carry concealed weapons at all times. Donnelly says since the tragedy in Newtown, there's been too much talk about guns and not enough talk about children and how to protect them. He says air travel in a post nine-eleven world is safer not because of TSA agents "groping grandmothers and infants" in airports. He credits armed air marshals on planes.
