Hundreds of friends and family members gathered Tuesday night to remember two Cobb County teenagers who died early Sunday morning in a tragic crash. Stephen Nolasco, 19, and Matt Bennett, 18, were best friends who graduated from Sprayberry High School last year.
The crash happened on Sandy Plains Road near Kinjac Drive in Marietta. Police say the car Nolasco was driving hit an 8-foot by 5-foot metal sign that was attached to brick columns, and then burst into flames. The two were less than a mile from home when the accident happened.
Both teens attended Georgia Perimeter College, and friends say they did absolutely everything together.
Those who loved them came together at the crash site Tuesday night and walked to Sprayberry High holding candles as a way to remember their friends. Both boys' parents said they were happy to see how many lives they had touched.
