Maternity Tourism: Buy Your Child's Citizenship

Posted: Updated:

It's the hottest travel ticket out of Asia but you can't buy this tour on Expedia or Travelocity.

It's called Maternity Tourism and apparently it's the "in" trip to take. If you're pregnant, rich and anywhere outside our borders.

The idea is to come to America when you're about 3 months pregnant; just far enough along that you're not really showing. Then stay here for the next six months and your baby is, as the song says, "Born in the USA".

Voila! You then return home baby in arms, along with baby's brand new American passport.

Might come in handy one day if you want to send your child here to study or when baby turns 21, he or she can legally petition to immigrate Mommy and Daddy.

Ethical?
Legal?
What do you think?

Some say it's cool - after all, they are sort of tourists and they are spending money to be here and more money in our economy means more jobs.

But, what about all those other people who are patiently waiting for their visa applications to be approved to come here for their piece of the American dream?

Come along with me and FOX 11 cameras as we go to the San Gabriel Valley to investigate a local business some people say is hiding another business--a baby business.
