LIRR restores most service, NYC alternate side parking suspended

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The Long Island Rail Road weekend service has been restored Sunday on most of its branches. 

The weekend service was restored by 8:00 a.m. and the railroad restored weekend operations on Far Rockaway, Long Beach, Hempstead and Oyster Bay branches in addition to the LIRR's four busiest branches - Ronkonkoma, Huntington, Babylon and Port Washington. 

Service is still suspended east of Ronkonkoma, east of Babylon or east of Huntington. Customers are advised to expect delays as recovery efforts continue and build in extra travel time.  

The LIRR is operating limited service between Penn Station and Babylon, Farmingdale, Huntington, and Port Washington. The railroad is working to restore service between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma. Third rail icing has caused problems between Hicksville and

In New York City, alternate side of the street parking is suspended for Sunday and Monday for snow removal. The parking rule was already suspended on Tuesday and Wednesday but will return citywide on Thursday.
