ATLANTA (AP) - State and local police are trying to figure out why someone smashed an object through the window of a small-town editor's home, then fired shots at the house and tried to burn the vehicles out front.
Ben Baker, editor of the Wiregrass Farmer, said the motivation behind the crimes in the south Georgia town of Ashburn remains a mystery.
The latest incident happened Sunday night, this time at the newspaper's office, where someone damaged the building's power meter.
Baker said there's been an outpouring of support from the community, including some who have volunteered to guard his yard with a shotgun. He hasn't taken them up on the offer.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is probing the matter, and a reward is being offered in hopes of breaking the case.
