CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A University of Illinois at Chicago employee was arrested Tuesday after bringing an unloaded handgun to work.
The employee had recently purchased the handgun, and brought it to work because he or she did not want to leave it at home while the house was being remodeled, UIC spokesman Mark Rosati said.
Another employee saw the weapon and called campus police to the university building near West Polk and South Wood streets about 4:30 p.m.
The handgun was in a case, and there were no bullets in either the gun or the case, Rosati said.
The employee was taken into custody, and UIC police continue to investigate.
