Man found dead in Long Island woods

NORTH BELLPORT, N.Y. (AP) - Police are investigating the death of a man found in a wooded area of Long Island.

The 35-year-old victim was found around 12:16 p.m. Tuesday near Hoffman and Hampton avenues in North Bellport.

Police say he did not appear to be the victim of a crime.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Police say Scott Shea of Middle Island was driving a Jeep northbound on William Floyd Parkway, just south of Montauk Highway, when he struck the toddler at about 3:45 p.m. Monday.

Kelly is with Mission Be, a nonprofit organization bringing mindful education to public schools.
