Shauna Miller is the founder of the highly influential budget fashion blog pennychic.com...a site to learn to look fabulous without breaking the bank. Today she's brought four head-to-toe looks, for under fifty dollars.
Shauna
Miller graduated from NYU in 2008 with the common dream of becoming a
stylist like Rachel Zoe or an assistant at a fashion magazine, but couldn't
find a job in the fashion or editorial industry because of the recession. It
became clear that the luxury fashion world was becoming more and more
irrelevant and print publications were soon becoming obsolete.. Who can afford
a Rachel Zoe styled outfit? Shauna came up with the idea to create
Penny Chic after she couldn't find a job in New York.
Her goal was
always to show women in America how to look fabulous using even the the
cheapest and most unlikely retailer in the country…Walmart. Everyday, she
posted outfit photos styled with all Walmart clothes and modeled by
either herslf or one of her friends. Shauna wanted to start a
conversation around budget fashion that lifted the stigma of what it meant to
be on a budget. Walmart was and is the largest retailer in the world where most
people in this country shop and yet no one in fashion dares to talk about it!
It was her dream all along to have my own affordable clothing line and
finally after 2 years of building a following on my blog, she teamed up
with a US based apparel vendor to create a collection of LBDs that Walmart
eventually agreed to buy for their ecommerce site. Now on her
blog, she styles outfits using ALL the stores that are within 20 miles of
every home in America aka Target, Sears, Kmart, etc.. It's about giving every
woman access to fashion regardless of where she lives or what her budget
is.
