Geri Jewell: The Most Powerful Line I Ever Said

Posted: Updated:

When you think of TV shows that broke barriers and made history, the 80's sitcom "The Facts of Life" probably doesn't come to mind. But children of the 80's remember "Cousin Geri", Blair's cousin on the show in part because she had cerebral palsy.

Geri Jewell played that role and became the first person with a disability to appear in a recurring role on television. Jewell shared her story with Tony and Maria and talked about her new book that chronicles her life and career, "I'm Walking as Straight as I Can".

She told them how she feels about being joked about on shows like South Park and Mad TV and whether or not it bothers her. Geri also tells them the incredible story about how she was cast in the HBO western "Deadwood" without even trying. While stars like Timothy Olyphant and Ian McShane took center stage in the series, Geri explains how she was the first person to get a part on the show.
