It was chaos on the Las Vegas strip. Shots were fired, and then there was a fiery car crash. Three people were killed and six others were injured.
"Family is a little chaotic right now because they don't know what's going on. Obviously it's a sudden experience," said Carl Boldon. "Difficult for any family going through for the first time."
Carl lost his younger brother, 62-year-old Michael, who lived in Detroit most of his life. Michael had moved to Vegas and was driving a cab.
At 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Michael was driving a fare on the Vegas strip. Someone inside a black Range Rover pulled up to a stoplight and opened fire on another car, a Maserati, also waiting at the light. The Maserati was driven by 27-year-old rapper Kenny Clutch. After he was shot multiple times, the rapper, either conscience or unconscious, jammed on the gas. The powerful Maserati screamed up the street and slammed into Michael Boldon's cab. The cab exploded into a giant ball of fire. Michael, the person ridding in his cab and Kenny Cluth all died.
The Range Rover with multiple people inside sped off.
"He and his passenger were victims of something senseless, and absolutely we want them to apprehend the folks that were involved in the incident," said Carl.
The entire scene played out in the heart of the Vegas strip right outside the Bellagio, Caesars Palace and Bally's. Police have some witnesses but want more. They have alerted agencies in three surrounding states to be on the lookout for a black Range Rover Sport with tinted windows and a paper dealer tag.
Michael was just in Detroit six weeks prior to his killing. He was visiting his brother Carl. While growing up the boys had attended Southwestern High in Detroit. Stunned friends have reached out to the family after hearing the horrible and tragic news.
Funeral arrangements for Michael Boldon are incomplete.
