Ripley's Believe It or Not: Sword Swallowers Day

Let's get to the point: The Oscars aren't the only spectacle to behold this weekend. It's World Sword Swallowers Day on Saturday, February 23, and this (literally) jaw-dropping celebration will be going on at Ripley's Believe It or Not on Hollywood Boulevard starting at 1:30pm sharp! (Sharp, get it? Thought you would.)

Whether you're a professional sword swallower or just like to watch, you're invited to join the festivities in front of Ripley's and pay homage to this ancient and dangerous art. But before you do, make sure to take a look at our video featuring the incredible Brett Loudermilk and Amy Amnesia. The show is free. Witness it your own risk.

PS: If you don't like to swallow, don't worry. There's a new Ripley's Believe It or Not! app featuring iSword, which allows you to enjoy all the fun of sword swallowing without any of the danger!

Venice Beach Freakshow: Sword Swallowers Day

It's World Sword Swallowers Day on Saturday, February 23 and there's no better way to celebrate than with the cast from AMC's new reality series "Freakshow," which follows Todd Ray's quirky family business -- the Venice Beach Freakshow. (www.amctv.com/shows/freakshow/about) Along with strange artifacts and the world's largest collection of two-headed animals, the Venice Beach Freak Show is the only place on earth where you can enjoy the spectacle of sword swallowing all year round. And they brought their eye-popping, jaw-dropping party to our studio this morning.

Prepare to be amazed with the death-defying feats of 20-year-old sword swallower and fire eater Asia Ray, Brianna Belladonna (who holds two world records in sword swallowing), and Morgue, a performance artist who takes sword swallowing to an entirely new level of extreme. (Seriously. You have to see it to believe it.) Watch the Ray family and their curious cast of characters Thursdays at 9:30pm on AMC.
