Step Out Into The Outback Of San Diego And Say 'G'Day'

Posted: Updated:

The San Diego Zoo will be opening a new exhibit this year!  The animals and San Diego Zoo's Global Ambassador Rick Schwartz  joined us this morning to show off some of their friends that will be featured in the "Australia Outback" Exhibit that's opening on Memorial Day Weekend.

The 3-acre exhibit will feature the largest koala colony outside of Australia as well as other marsupials like wombats and wallabies. There will even be an egg-laying mammal, the short-nosed echidna.

The San Diego Zoo is also making a new home for its colony of Queensland koalas. Birds including Gouldian finches, bowerbirds and cockatoos native to Australia can be seen in the aviaries in Australian Outback.
