A woman was struck and killed after being hit by a taxi in Manhattan early Sunday morning.
Police say the victim was at the corner of Third Avenue and East 27th Street around 1:50 a.m., when the cab and a 2011 Ford Escape were traveling northbound on Third Avenue.
A 2010 Honda then came from a parking lot and struck the back of the taxi and the impact sent it careening onto the sidewalk, hitting the victim.
The unidentified woman suffered severe leg trauma and massive bleeding. EMS took her to Bellevue Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities said the driver remained at the scene and no criminality is suspected.
