Smash & Grab Burglaries At OC Strip Mall Plague Businesses

Posted: Updated:
Buena Park, CA -

(CNS) Burglars smashed the windows of two businesses in a Buena Park strip mall last night. The burglary, which was reported at 9:44 p.m. at a two-story strip mall in the 7700 block of Orangethorpe Avenue, was the second such crime in the area yesterday, police said.

Two beauty supply shops and a dental office were struck at a strip mall in Orange early this morning, authorities said.  In tonight's burglary, a barber shop and another dental office were
targeted, said Buena Park police Officer B. Hartley.

A television was taken from one of the businesses and police were awaiting responsible parties from the businesses to determine what else was taken, Hartley said.

In the earlier burglary, the storefronts targeted were at The Brickyard Shopping Center, a two-story strip mall in the 1600 block of Lincoln Avenue. They were struck shortly after 1 a.m., police said.

Thousands of dollars worth of wigs and computer equipment worth thousands of dollars were taken from the beauty supply shops and dental equipment of an undisclosed value was taken from the dental office, the businesses' owners told a photographer at the scene.

Buena Park investigators were planning to confer with Orange police to determine if the two crimes were related, a detective told the photographer.
