Two members of Brewton-Parker College's baseball team were killed in an accident on Thursday.
Johnathan Bell, 20, and Kevin Camp, 19, were driving on Highway 30 west in Ailey when a large pine tree fell and hit their pickup truck.
Camp died at the scene and Bell passed away at a local hospital.
The two athletes played baseball together at Jasper County High School before they both moved on to Brewton-Parker College in south Georgia.
Brandon Barger says he played baseball with both since grade school.
"Just all around great people and it's really not fair that they went out like that," Barger said.
Friends say Kevin was an all-around athlete, but his first love was baseball. They say he was exceptional at hitting and pitching, earning a spot on the Brewton-Parker team during open tryouts last fall.
"He was one of the people that the coaches liked really good and he got on," said Kyle Camp, Kevin's brother.
Kevin Camp also loved motorcycle riding. His father said he was heart-broken over the loss.
"I'm very proud of him, I bragged about him all the time," Ken Camp said.
Friends say the loss of the two men leaves a gaping hole in the hearts of the families.
"It's tough and I want to let them both know, both families, that if they do need anything, they have people around them, their friends that will help them. They're not alone," said Barger.
Kevin Camp's funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Monticello Baptist Church.
Bell's funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m., also at Monticello Baptist Church.
