L.A. Co. Embattled Undersheriff Paul Tanaka Retiring - Los Angeles Local News, Weather, and Traffic

Undersheriff Paul Tanaka, the number two man under L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca is stepping down.  His resignation came just hours after he won a third term as the Mayor of Gardena.

He says he's tired of working two jobs and looks forward to spending more time with his family, particularly his three and a half year old son.

Steve Whitmore, the sheriff department's media advisor, tried to dispel the perception that the 31 year veteran is quitting as the feds investigate deputy on inmate violence at Men's Central Jail.
