Man ticketed for disturbing the peace with his laughter

Posted: Updated:

An unfriendly neighbor gets the last laugh after he calls the police because of someone's laughter.

The hearty laugh of Robert Schiarelli apparently disturbs the peace.

He has been fined hundreds of dollars for laughing in his own home.

"I can't laugh out a window in my own home," he said.

According to Schiarelli, he and his neighbor have been at odds for years -- but when he laughed at him out of his bathroom window, his neighbor had enough.

"And starts eyeballing me like I personally did something to him. So the only thing I could think of to do is laugh at him...he just stared at me. And mocked me and did just stupid things."

Robert's mother, Suzanne Schiarelli says, "I am sure someone in his house called the police. Whether he personally did so, but it looked like a setup."

Police arrived and gave him two tickets for disturbing the peace.

Robert says he's "not going to be bullied or pushed around or told what to do."

Each of the summons carries a $250 fine or 15 days in jail.  And that's no laughing matter.
