Palm Desert, CA -
A magnitude-4.7 earthquake centered in the Riverside County desert rattled some parts of Los Angeles today, but there were no reports of any damage.
The quake struck at 9:55 p.m. and was centered 11 miles south-southeast of Anza and 14 miles southwest of La Quinta, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The Los Angeles Fire Department went into "earthquake mode'' following the temblor, but found no evidence of any damage from the shaker.
The quake was initially reported as a magnitude-5.2, but was later downgraded by the USGS. The shaking was felt across Riverside and San Diego counties.
