ATLANTA -
Crews brought out the heavy equipment to bulldoze a longtime eyesore in northwest Atlanta on Monday in an attempt to reduce crime.
SKYFOX 5 flew over the vacant La Barcelona apartments on Anderson Avenue moments before it was scheduled to be dismantled.
It's part of Mayor Kasim Reed's initiative to clean up dilapidated properties and improve quality of life since he put code enforcement under the Atlanta Police Department.
The mayor's office says this is one of 43 structures demolished under the initiative, with 78 other buildings cleaned and closed and another 171 orders pending for destruction.
