Free Truck for Women Shot By LAPD During Dorner Manhunt? Not So Fast.

Los Angeles, CA -

"If this is what Chief Beck refers to as whole, it's not even a slice," says the attorney representing two women shot at by police while delivering newspapers during the Christopher Dorner manhunt.

LAPD Chief Charlie Beck had asked Galpin Motors to replace the badly damaged, shot at truck to help the women keep on working, pending any legal action they might be taking against the department.

After much back and forth, Galpin says they offered a brand new Toyota 150. The women said it wasn't a "gift" if they were getting 1099 form and would owe taxes on it.

So, the attorney says "it's stupid, it's insulting ... keep your darn truck."

Galpin owner Bert Boeckman calls it lawyer posturing.

LAPD Commander Andrew Smith responded by saying, "sad, we meant well." He added that Chief Beck was "genuine in his offer."
