Rancho Palos Verdes, CA -
8pm - Monday Night - Pacific Palisades - two
men at the door force there was into the home of Noble Kudota. The owners and
their daughter say the men appeared to be about 6' and 5'8'' tall. Both were
African American. Noble's daughter Janet says "it was terrifying."
Her dad, now 89 years old says, "they knocked me down on the floor... told
me to get upstairs and be on the bed face down!" They made all three of
the Kubota's do that. Janet says "they didn't want us to see their faces."
Mr. Kubota says they took $3-$4,000 his wife had saved in the house and the
entire coin collection he had been assembling for the last 60 or so years. The
house was a mess. Every room ransacked! Janet jokes "I don't want you to
think this is how we live." A chuckle. The humor is a nice moment in a bad
day.
The entire ordeal, they say, lasted 2 or so hours. And, as the bad guys
left the cut the phone lines, grabbed all the cells and Mrs. Kubota's new
hearing aids valued at about $5000 and threw them in the toilet. Deputies want to
find these guys. To 84 year old Mrs. Kubota ... they were mean.

(CNS) An investigation was under way today into a home invasion robbery in Rancho Palos Verdes, where a man, his wife and daughter were held in house for nearly three hours while two men ransacked the home before escaping with cash, authorities said.
The man reported around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday that he and his wife and daughter had been held inside the house at 4200 Miraleste Drive since about 8p.m., said Lt. Greg Ahn of the Los Angeles County sheriff's Lomita Station.
Two men knocked on the door and forced their way into the home, Ahn said. It was unclear if they were armed and Ahn did not know if the victims were tied up or otherwise restrained by the robbers, who made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No injuries were reported in the robbery, which took place in an upscale neighborhood where such crimes are unusual, he said.
