Posted: Updated:

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell today for the 14th time in 15 days, decreasing 1.1 cents to $4.234.

The average price is 5.8 cents less than one week ago and 16.2 cents lower than one year ago, but 4.9 cents more than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price had risen 32 times in 33 days before the decreases began.

The Orange County average price fell today for the 14th consecutive day, decreasing 1.4 cents to $4.215. It is 6.7 cents less than one week ago and 16.5 cents lower than one year ago, but 4.1 cents more than one month ago.

The Orange County average price had risen 33 times in 34 days before the decreases began.

The dropping pump prices coincide with a sharp drop in wholesale gasoline prices connected with most California refineries concluding their scheduled maintenance in advance of the switch to sales of summer blend gasoline without major incidents, assuring a satisfactory supply, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
