NYC Comptroller John Liu wants to be the next mayor of NYC. He announced his candidacy over the weekend. On Monday, he spoke with GDNY about his mayoral bid and what he will do as mayor.

"I have a tremendous amount of experience in city government but most of my experience is in the private sector. I do believe our city can be far better. I want to make sure our fiscal priorities change. I want to make sure we're not giving developers hundreds of millions of dollars. I want a more progressive tax. The less you make the less you pay; the more you make the more you pay."

Liu is the latest Democratic candidate to enter the ring and the first Asian-American to run for mayor of New York City.
