LOS ANGELES (AP-FOX11) - A Los Angeles County jury says Southern California Edison must pay $4 million to a woman repeatedly shocked in her home by stray electricity.
The Daily Breeze (http://bit.ly/ZIXhcG) reports Simona Wilson of Redondo Beach was awarded $1 million in compensatory damages and $3 million punitive damages from the utility Tuesday.
Wilson's attorneys say she filed the lawsuit after stray electricity pulsed through her showerhead and left her with nerve damage in her hands and feet. Her home is near an Edison substation and was originally built by the utility to rent to its employees.
Edison said in a statement that it made sufficient efforts to address Wilson's problem and the award is inconsistent with the evidence presented in court. The utility says it is disappointed, and deciding whether to appeal.
