Michigan fans celebrate first Final Four appearance since Fab Five

Posted: Updated:
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WJBK) -

Last time the Wolverines visited the final four, most of the current players and students at University of Michigan were still pitter-pattering around on baby paws.

The rest weren't even born.

Ann Arbor was the place to be Sunday night, as huge crowds gathered to celebrate the first Maize and Blue final four appearance since 1993, which marked the end of the Fab Five era.

For those old enough to remember, it was an ending that begged to be forgotten, but was destined to plague participants and loyal fans forever.

Time out.

A new era has begun. There were plenty of doubters when the current squad earned a number one ranking early in the season.

After routing Florida Sunday, there's nothing left to doubt.

This young team is now poised to make new history, and hundreds of fans knew it Sunday night.

Fox 2's Ron Savage was there Sunday night. Click on the video player to watch his live report.
