MARIETTA, Ga. -

The search is on for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run in Marietta. Police say the driver hit a bicyclist Sunday night on Powder Springs Street at Natchez Trace.

The 55-year-old man on the bike was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where he later died.

A man at the scene told FOX 5 he was the bicyclist's roommate for the last 27 years.

"I walked to the top of the hill and saw all these blue lights and said, ‘this can't be good.' We were just two guys that got along and looked out for each other. Now I don't have anybody to look out for," said Steve Ross.

Police have released a photo of a man they call a "driver of interest." Authorities say he was seen leaving the NCG Cinema before the accident in a black SUV with dark windows and black wheels.

Police ask if anyone has any information to call them at 770-499-3911.
