MILFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Milford woman is accused of stabbing her boyfriend's 80-year-old mother with a pair of scissors multiple times after putting a plastic bag over her head while she was in her room watching television. The victim survived.
44-year-old Kimberly Daniel was arraigned on first-degree assault and strangulation charges Tuesday in Milford Superior Court. Her boyfriend, 46-year-old Dana Forgette, was charged with tampering with evidence and other crimes for allegedly trying to cover up the attack.
Forgette's mother is reported in stable condition at a hospital.
Daniel is jailed on $200,000 bail under a suicide watch. Neighbors say she had just moved from New York to live with Forgette and his mother.
Police say Forgette told them Daniel and his mother don't get along and nothing precipitated the stabbing.

The cleanup has begun in some parts of Long Island while others continue to deal with flooding from heavy rain fall that began late Tuesday and intensified on Wednesday. Cars remain stranded after rain pounded the area. More than 13 inches of rain fell in Islip. The National Weather Service said the rain was the largest event on record for New York State in a 24-hour period.
