DETROIT (WJBK) -

Dozens of shots were fired at a car on Detroit's west side.  When it was all over, two men were dead.

Patricia Reynolds has lost her son.  She just saw 28-year-old Robert Reynolds, a father of three, on Saturday.  She has cancer, just had surgery and was spending time with him.  It was the last time they would have together.

Sunday around 7:30 p.m., Robert and his friend were inside a car at Woodrow Wilson and Pingree just blocks from his home when a minivan pulled up, two masked gunman jumped out and opened fire with an AK-47 and a handgun.

"They were all supposed to have been going to Belle Isle, and he jumped in the car with his friend, and the guys just started shooting them," said Patricia.

"These kids out here just killing... one another, it's just senseless to me."

Sources told Fox 2 the gunmen even started shooting at people they thought might have witnessed the attack, then they took off leaving Robert and his friend, Peso, to die.

Those who knew the men said they didn't know them to be involved in anything illegal or shady and can't understand why this would happen.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
