FOX 2 teaming up with Gleaners to fight hunger in our community

Posted: Updated:

One in four Michigan Children live in poverty - a problem closely linked to hunger. More than 315,000 kids in southeast Michigan receive free or reduced lunch at school. When school is out those children are at risk of missing meals. That's where Gleaners programs come in - they provide snacks not only during the school day -but cover those hours when kids aren't in school. Kids who are hungry - can't learn, can't concentrate.

FOX 2 and Gleaners thank all of our viewers who showed their support on our special double donation day is in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Women's Power Breakfast. As part of that event, the goal was set to raise 2 million meals to help feed hungry kids this spring.

With your help we reached our goal of two million meals for local children!

You can still help. To donate, visit www.gcfb.org.
