TEMPE, Ariz. -

There were some tense moments Tuesday morning in Tempe when firefighters worked feverishly to rescue a woman pinned under a light rail train.

It happened at the stop near Apache and McClintock. The train, according to police, was just pulling into the station.

She suffered arm and head injuries, but at this point is expected to live.

She's not the only one to suffer this fate. Accidents involving trains of this type have taken place all over, and the victims seem to walk away with their lives.

Tempe Police Lt. Scott Smith says it was around 11 a.m. when a call came in reporting a woman collided with train.

"Upon arrival, police and fire units discovered a female who appeared to be in her 40s, early 50s, partially pinned underneath the front part of the first car of the train," says Lt. Smith.

In March of 2010, two police officers rescued a man in Phoenix. Surveillance video shows how he stumbled onto the tracks.

"We saw this gentleman get up from his seat and he stumbled and he fell head first into the railway."

This accident shows a woman in Boston losing her balance, falling onto the tracks. She got up on her own.

This accident took place in Australia and reveals the moments after a baby stroller rolled onto the tracks as the train approached. Amazingly, the baby lived.

In this video also from Boston, the woman stumbled and fell while holding her 4 year old. Both were helped back onto the platform.

Another video also taken in Phoenix shows a man running right out in front of a train. He was left in critical condition.

In today's incident, rescuers had to remove part of the front car's bumper to free the woman. At this point they are investigating what happened.

"She was extricated due to the excellent work of the Tempe, Chandler Fire departments. She was talking to us and we are currently, when appropriate, we're going to be interviewing her as well to figure out what exactly occurred," says Lt. Smith.

Witnesses are also being interviewed.
