New study says housework could alleviate menopause symptoms

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Researchers have discovered that housework may help women shake off menopausal hot flashes and help them sleep better.

A new study in Menopause: The Journal of The North American Menopause Society says that women between 54 to 63 who are suffering from menopause and can't make it to the gym can reduce their menopause symptoms by doing higher levels of routine physical activities, like household chores.

According to the study, women who did more household chores reported fewer hot flashes and nighttime awakenings and better sleep.

Researchers believe that physical activity would help women sleep better, too. However, in this study, women were more likely to report housework as their activity.
