NFL broadcaster Pat Summerall dies at 82

Pat Summerall has died at the age of 82. Pat Summerall has died at the age of 82.
DALLAS -

Legendary NFL broadcaster Pat Summerall has died, FOX Sports spokesman Dan Bell confirmed to the Associated Press Tuesday.  He was 82.  

Summerall worked a record 16 Super Bowls on network television.  He worked for CBS from 1961 to 1993, and moved to FOX with the NFL in 1994.  Summerall retired after the 2002 season.  

He worked alongside analyst John Madden for 21 years.  Together, they called the Super Bowl in 1982, which was the highest rated television program of all time.

Summerall played college football for Arkansas, and went on to become a kicker for the Chicago Cardinals and the New York Giants.  He was inducted into the American Sportscasters Association Hall of Fame in 1994.   Summerall also covered the PGA Tour and tennis for CBS.

No other details on Summerall's death were immediately available.
