A day after a valley attorney admitted to shooting a man in a Tempe parking lot, he made his first appearance before a judge.

Now we're learning more about the lawyer and what happened.

Joseph Palmisano made his initial appearance in the 4th Avenue Jail Friday.  He surrendered to police Thursday after the shooting and was booked for second degree attempted murder and kidnapping.

The criminal defense attorney is accused of being a brutal criminal himself.

According to Tempe police, Palmisano walked up to Ryan Hall in the parking lot of his law firm near Rural and Baseline Thursday and pointed a .357 gun at him.

Hall grabbed the gun barrel and tried to duck under and away.  Palmisano then shot him in the back, then stood over Hall who told police he said something like "Do you feel that?  That's you dying, boy."

Palmisano works out of an office in the Lake subdivision, but he lives in a luxury home in Gilbert.

According to police, Palmisano admitted to having a romantic relationship with his secretary, Catelyn Foster, for the last six months.

She has a son with Hall and he had come by the office for a "custodial exchange."

Palmisano told police he believed Hall had been hacking into his computers and tapping his phones.

We knocked on Palmisano's door Friday afternoon.  The woman who opened the door didn't want to talk.

Hall remains hospitalized.  Police say he told them he recorded the shooting on his phone.

A judge set Palmisano's bond at $180,000.
