DeKalb County police swear in 26 new officers

TUCKER, Ga. (AP) - The DeKalb County Police Department is growing.

The department added 26 new officers Thursday. The new officers have completed 26 weeks of intensive training and are set to receive their badges at the ceremony.

Following the graduation ceremony, the officers will be assigned to 1 of the department's five police precincts. They will then complete an additional 12 weeks of instruction with field training officers.

This is the first class of officers to graduate since Chief Cedric Alexander took control of the department.
