Woman accused of allowing teens to smoke pot at her home

YOUNGTOWN, Ariz. -

A Phoenix woman has been accused of allowing teenagers to smoke pot at her home, located near 116th Ave and Peoria.

63-year-old Kathleen Dewey is behind bars, facing 10 different drug-related charges, including possession.

The disabled Air Force veteran was taken into custody this past Saturday after police say she had been smoking marijuana with a few teens in the neighborhood.

Her husband admits that the teens would smoke at their home, but says it was a coping tool, helping them deal with the suicide of an 18-year-old who lived at their home earlier this year.

"They would come over and give her a little bit of weed here and there and stuff like that," said Dwight Dewey, the suspect's husband. "I'm sorry the kids were smoking pot, yes I understand that but yeah I know it's against the law."

Although the teens were allowed to smoke at their home, Dewey's husband said they never actually provided the teens with the drugs.
