GLENDALE, Ariz. -

The assistant police chief in Glendale is the subject of an internal investigation due to an incident that took place off-duty.

Assistant Chief Greg Dominguez has been with the Glendale Police Department for 28 years. The police department would not go into details of the investigation.

But a spokesperson for Dominguez told FOX 10 he is being investigated for the way he defended his son from some sort of illegal activity.

The spokesperson says, "Greg reacted the way any father or mother would react. He put his family first."

The investigation does not appear to involve criminal charges but may have violated department policy.
