The suspect was wanted in an attempted kidnapping that occurred about 6:15 a.m. near Avalon Boulevard and University Drive, said sheriff's Sgt. Doug Murakami of the Carson Station. An occupant of the SUV was freed from the wreckage and was taken to a hospital. It was unclear if the suspect was injured.

They pull up, he hears the sirens, she gets away from him -- he gets in his vehicle and leads deputies on a pursuit.

At Avalon and 135th he crashes into an SUV which flips over and bursts into flames. He tries to flee, but is arrested. The woman in the SUV is taken to the hospital - condition unknown.
