When it comes to delays, the F train gets an F, according to a new report from the Straphangers Campaign. The report said the F line had more significant delays than any other line during the first 10 months of 2012.
"It had 225 delays out of about 2,600 for the whole system, that's nearly 10 percent," said Gene Russianoff of the Straphangers Campaign. "So that's not a good level of performance."
The report is based on the MTA's electronic alerts about service problems that are sent to 80,000 MTA email and text subscribers. It contains only statistics for delays that the MTA could prevent, such as a signal malfunctions.
The group also studied alerts sent out after Superstorm Sandy and found that in the first three months of this year delays were up 29 percent compared to the same period last year.
"The storm was a huge storm, and it has an impact on all parts of the city, including the subways," Russianoff said. "There are more delays due to track problems, signals and mechanical problems… the system took a body blow and riders are feeling it."
Riders say they've noticed the increase in waiting time.
The MTA's alerts do not provide information about how long the delays lasted.
