CHANDLER, Ariz. -

Google asked students nationwide to come up with a new design for a doodle, and a first-grader in Chandler has been named a finalist in the high-tech competition.

We talked to the little girl about her inspiration for her artwork.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but for this little girl, it could be worth $80,000.

"A lot of things in my backyard inspired me," says Raegan Gonsalves, Google Doodle winner in Arizona.

First grader Raegan Gonsalves got to doodling all those things in her backyard for the National Google Doodle Competition.

"I really like birds."

The birds, worms, and flowers all spell out the word Google. Wednesday, Google was at her school, honoring the first grader for getting first place in Arizona.

"When we found out that she won, it was just not even real," says Mark Gonsalves, Raegan's father.

This is just the first step to the national student competition. The winner takes home a $30,000 scholarship and $50,000 for her school.

All students drew a scene from this year's theme, my best day ever.

"My best day ever is learning about nature."

This drawing is now one of 50 drawings competing for your vote. Everyone across the country can vote on google.com under "vote for your favorite doodle."

If she wins, Reagan says the biggest perk, besides the scholarship and a trip to New York, is her drawing on google.com for a day.

"Because I have a whole bunch of people looking at a picture I made."

And that might be her new best day ever.
