Firefighters battle massive flames at Mesa mobile home

MESA, Ariz. -

A Mesa couple is safe after fire alarms went off in their mobile home early Thursday morning.

A mobile home near Ellsworth Road and Southern Avenue was completely engulfed in flames.

SkyFOX flew over the home and showed huge clouds of smoke and fire spreading across the sky.

There were also reportedly explosions coming from the home.

Rural Metro spokesperson Colin Williams says surrounding trees and two trucks caught on fire in addition to the double-wide trailer.

Neighboring mobile homes were in danger of catching fire, but firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading significantly.

High winds made it difficult for firefighters to put out lingering hot spots.

Williams says the elderly homeowners weren't injured, but their three dogs are missing.

According to firefighters, the couple was already awake when the fire started, but their mobile home's fire alarms alerted them to the flames.

Four fire engines responded to the fire.
