DeKalb County police are investigating a pair of shootings that may be related. One victim was out walking his dog when someone opened fire.

Investigators say a man and his girlfriend were walking the dog along Elkhorn Drive when a SUV drove by, turned around and a person inside the SUV fired shots. The man was shot twice in the abdomen. He was taken to Grady Hospital, and is in critical condition. The woman was not injured.

Police say another shooting earlier on Hollyhock Terrace may be related. In that shooting, one person was killed.

"It's possible. We're not certain at this point. It's under investigation. Major felony unit's [going to be] following up on it. The situation is there's a similar type vehicle that was given as a description at the scene after the shooting occurred," said DeKalb police Lt. Dane Cunningham.

Police say the two locations are within six miles of each other, and that the two shootings happened within 15 minutes.

No names have been released in connection with the shootings.
