CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

All northbound lanes of the Kennedy Expressway have been reopened Monday morning after a multiple vehicle crash left at least one person dead and closed the expressway through the morning rush.

The crash, which involved a semi truck and three other vehicles, occurred at about 6:20 a.m. and closed the expressway's northbound lanes near Cumberland Avenue, Illinois State Police said.

In addition to the one fatality, two others were injured, though information on their conditions or which hospital they were taken to was not immediately available, according to state police.

The cause of the crash remained unclear as police investigate. All northbound lanes were reopened at Cumberland about 9:35 a.m.
