Dog jumps through car window, attacks occupants

Posted: Updated:
CHAMBLEE, Ga. -

Two neighbors say they were driving down a Chamblee road when a dog jumped through the car's window and attacked them.

Tony Warbington and his neighbor, Gina Shenker, said they were driving down the road when they saw a couple of dogs in a yard.  Tony said that one dog ran in front of him, forcing him to slam on the brakes. Before he knew it, Tony said that the dog jumped through his window.

"He's growling and snarling trying to get to Gina," said Warbington.

"All  I see is teeth and they're coming at me," Gina Shenker said. "Tony's got him by the hind leg and he's screaming at the top of his lungs, ‘Get out Gina! Get out Gina!'"

Tony's arm was bleeding, yet as he held the dog back, he grabbed his cell phone and started taking pictures. At the same time, Gina was trying to get her seatbelt unlatched.

"My arms ware so weak, I couldn't get out, so I was literally trapped, and that's, I think, what made it so horrifying because I couldn't get the seatbelt off for nothing," Shenker said.

After she finally got out, Gina said that the dog jumped out after her and took off.

They described the dog as some type of boxer-mix weighing about 45 or 50 pounds.

Gina said that animal control officials issued two citations to the dog's owner: one for no proof of vaccinations, and one for not being on a leash.

FOX 5 was unable to contact the dog's owner.

Tony went to the emergency room where he was given a tetanus shot.  He also has a doctor's appointment scheduled on Tuesday for a shoulder that he said he injured trying to hold the dog back.He says from now on, he'll be driving with the windows up.
