Get your heart pumping at the Metro Detroit Heart Walk

Posted: Updated:

Heart disease is the leading health killer in America, killing about 600,000 people per year.  It's serious, but exercising and healthy living are easy ways to jumpstart a long life.

Heart Walk is a non-competitive walk that celebrates those who have made lifestyle changes and encourages many more to take the pledge to live healthier lifestyles while raising the dollars needed to fund life-saving research and education, advocate for health and save lives.

Join us to get your heart pumping and to fight against heart disease!  The American Heart Association's Metro Detroit Heart Walk at Ford Field, on Sat., June 8, kicking off at 10:00 a.m.

Attendees have the option to participate in a 1-mile or 3-mile walk, or the Barton Malow 5K Fun Run/Walk.  The event will also feature live entertainment, a mascot race, kid games, Bokwa fitness demonstration, health screenings and more!

Although the Heart Walk is free to the public, individuals and teams are encouraged to register and fundraise in advance.

Proceeds will go towards extensive research to prevent heart disease, pediatric research, and getting lifesaving information, such as: how to eat better, how to recognize the warning signs of heart attack, and how to talk to a doctor about critical health choices.
