Doctor Seeks To Change Way Children With Autism See Their World

Updated:

For most people, going to the store or out to eat at a restaurant doesn't seem like anything major task.

It is quite the opposite for children living with autism, and they can get overwhelmed and stressed by the experience.

One local doctor is hoping she can change that by teaching families a lesson they won't soon forget.

For the past 15 years, Dr. Wendy Ross has had the challenging task of telling parents that their child has autism. She wanted help those who are in the situation cope, so she came up with her own solution, combining therapy with the real world with the Autism Inclusion Program.

This allows the child to take on major tasks, like going to an amusement park, a baseball game and traveling through the airport.

Ross volunteers her time, and also fully funds the program entirely.

FOX 29's Thomas Drayton has more details on her program in this video report.
