Family fun at the Lyon Township Kite Festival

Posted: Updated:

NEW HUDSON, MI - It will be a day of free and fun activities for the whole family when kids and kite aficionados of all ages are invited to the 5th Annual Lyon Township Kite Festival on June 1st.

Kites of all shapes and sizes will fill the air at Oakland County's best kept secret for kite flying - the bluff-top park that overlooks the beautiful hamlet area of New Hudson.

New this year is a kid's interactive workshop that will be provided by Lowe's, along with live musical entertainment by the Blaine Fowler Experience.

Additional activities include a kite drop with prizes, an inflatable water balloon castle called "Water Wars," that is the only one in Michigan, a petting zoo, and many other activities for the whole family.

While admission is free, attendees are asked to bring a non perishable donation whether it is a canned good or box of oatmeal.

All food donations will be collected for Active Faith who provides long term and temporary assistance to those who have fallen on difficult times.

The Kite Festival will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at James Atchison Memorial Park in New Hudson.

Visit the Lyon Township web site for more information.
