California's Economic Recovery Strong; Apple Adding Jobs

Posted: Updated:

A UCLA economic forecast release today shows California making a strong recovery, while the U.S. growth is lackluster.

The report states that a stronger growth in the nation's gross domestic product will be necessary to bring the recovery, post-Great Recession, on par with previous recoveries.

One of the report's authors calls the nation's growth flat-out "bad."

But California's economic picture is brighter, and part of that is its jobs growth.

One example: Apple announced plans to increase its Silicon Valley workforce by 50 percent over the next three years.

Hell on earth, that's how some doctors describe Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa also known as E.B. It's a horrible genetic disease that Nicky Zahorcak was born with. A lot of his skin is raw, the slightest touch can cause blisters that quickly spread. He says, "Right now, all the bandages that you see everywhere even on my sides, they're all raw skin." His mother Silvia says very few people know about this rare condition and she wants to change that.
